Class Experience

2 years teaching 5th grade-8th grade band, and one on one lessons with all band instruments including all woodwinds, brass,
and percussion in an Iowa public school
14 years teaching 6th grade beginning band, high school marching band, high school concert band, Jazz band, brass quintet,
pep band, pit orchestra, and private lessons in an Illinois public school
Students will be assigned warmups, scales, book material each week to be completed for the next lesson. Additionally students are welcome to request help on any music that they are looking to learn.
1. A brass instrument in good working order: Students will need a quality brand (Yamaha, Jupiter, Getzen, Conn, King, Bach, etc.) in order to ensure success! 2. Valve oil, slide grease, mouthpiece cleaning brush. 3. Pencil and notebook to write down assignments, or mark music 4. Printed sheet music (I will provide this) 5. Instrument method book (recommended by the teacher) 6. A music stand
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
1) Warmups/fundamentals (provided by teacher)
2) Scales (provided by teacher)
3) Method book material as recommended by teacher (purchased by student)
4) Blank notebook to write down anything you learned, and assignments
5) An instrument
6) A music stand to hold sheet music
