4 hrs 10 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
The learner will receive weekly instruction in English Written Language to develop skills to construct written work of 3-5 paragraphs (Introduction, Body and Conclusion). Work will be done on an engaging and interactive shared screen, individually saved, to be continued each week until completion. The learner will be guided through the writing process of Pre-Write to brainstorm, Draft development, Edit, Revision and Publish. The learner will work on one topic, focusing on one stage each week. The class subject matter will not increase; however, skills are expected to. Learners who repeat the class, will select a new topic to extend their work in content and length. As appropriate, when the 5 stages become proficient with creative writing, interested learners have the option to transition their focus to other types of writing (narrative, opinion, persuasion and expository). Descriptive writing, for audience aesthetic experience, will be practiced in all writing! While working through the 5 stages, highlights of creating a draft will be terms such as "hook" and "topic sentence" as the introduction, "main idea" as the first sentence of the body with “supporting details” to explain and conclusion with “restatement” and “final thoughts.” The learner will also work on written mechanics (punctuation, capitalization, spelling and grammar) in the edit stage and in revision, language (staying on topic, word choice, voice and sentence development). The class is automatically discounted with 5 scheduled lessons at the price of 4! This class also offers a sibling discount of 10%. To receive a sibling discount; the first learner must have paid enrollment. To maintain a sibling discount, there must be one learner with paid enrollment at the time of a sibling enrollment. There is no limit to sibling discounts. Parents must request sibling discounts prior to enrolling so the price can be adjusted, and a private link can be sent.
