Beginner Level
This is a 1:1 tutoring session for kindergarten-6th grade students who are struggling with some aspect of reading. Students will receive direct instruction following an Orton-Gillingham method in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonological processing skills, spelling and decoding, as well as reading comprehension. Each tutoring session is individualized to the needs of the learner. During the first session, I will do a brief assessment to identify areas of knowledge and weakness to make an individual plan to meet the learner where they are at and move them forward. After each tutoring session I will send the parent an update and formulate a plan of action for the next session. I will also provide optional homework if requested between sessions that will review and reinforce the concepts we covered as well as other games and resources that may be helpful to support your learner.
Learning Goals
Students will gain proficiency in phonemic awareness, phonological processing skills and fluency to support reading comprehension.
