Assessment
The learner progress is assessed by how well the learner participates in the interactions during class.Class Experience
US Grade 8 - 11
This is a one-on-one session which uses the same content as the ongoing course but with individual attention for your learner. I make sure I use a different problem set from what is used in the weekly group sessions so that your learner can benefit from those as well as the group classes are more economical for the learner's family. Has your learner been trying to make themselves look at those "daily questions" to practice the SAT, but either didn't have someone holding them accountable or didn't have a live teacher helping them understand the question? This fifteen-minute session is offered in many separate weekly sections so that your learner can pick as many days of the week to do this as he/she is comfortable with. And if your student misses it, the video will be online for the student to review. I've been teaching math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 150 and 300 points. Learners reinforce their skills in algebraic terminology and tricks! We all study and prepare for the SAT as best as we can. And we may even feel like we can do algebra pretty well. But what separates the good SAT math scores from those of excellence is the student who doesn't have to stop to try to remember how to approach something. While everyone sometimes has to do that, there is still hope! There are certain tricks and terms in algebra that can be drilled and reinforced for speed. That could make big difference in your final score! You can also take group classes for PSAT prep. Here are the courses I offer: This class is one of four levels of SAT prep classes. Here are all of them... "Kickin' It! I keep the class lively, informative, and encourage learner input while helping every understand we're in the same boat - everyone is learning!
Learning Goals
Among the topics that will be covered with the goal of increase recollection speed and accuracy are: how to expand using brackets, combining like terms, quickly doing substitutions, deciding which line from a graph has a positive or negative slope, recognizing words typically used in word problems and how they usually translate to equations, how to represent a rate of decrease in an equation, the difference between equations and functions, point-slope formula when looking at a graph.
