US Grade 9 - 12
In this class, I will be guiding your learner through their questions on mathematical concepts that they bring up. Questions can be on any math subject, i.e., Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, etc. The private sessions are scheduled upon request so please don't hesitate to contact me to create a schedule with your learner. I can schedule sessions at least 24 hours in advance. Every student I have taught can do the math, their struggle usually lies in their problem-solving skills. While going through a problem, students will be asked a series of questions until the students get to the answer by themselves instead of solely giving them the answer. The questions refer back to the basic foundations of the subject that the students need to use for the problem in front of them. This method gives me an idea of what type of problems to give them next in order to give them practice on the new topics covered in class while focusing on the basic areas they still need. This leads to the students mastering the fundamentals in the course. For available times, please click on the "Request Another Time" button.
Learning Goals
My goal is to help students master the fundamental concepts of their math courses. By focusing on problem-solving techniques and reinforcing foundational knowledge, students will gain confidence in their abilities and develop a deep understanding of the subject matter.
A huge part of studying math problem solving involves narrative or “story” problems. In these sessions, we will work on problem solving strategies which will prepare you for math problem solving. Such strategies will include the importance of formulating good questions, the use of visualization, and the role of mathematical concepts, definitions, assumptions, theorems, and rules during the problem solving process.

Parental Guidance
Please list the topic(s) of choice upon enrollment or as far in advance as possible. Please also share any specifics about your learner's experience with the listed topic(s). Feel free to do this by either messaging me or posting on the classroom.
Supply List
Come prepared to ask questions about math topics, whether from school assignments or other topics you'd like more practice on, as well as bring something to write on and something to write with: pen & paper / marker & whiteboard / stylus & tablet / drawing pad for annotating on Zoom. Regarding materials, I let my learners annotate on my screen when we show our math work. So if your learner is good with writing on the computer with a mouse, that should suffice. Some of my learners like having a drawing tablet with a stylus to make annotating easier, but it's not required. Also, for some reason, Zoom won't let my learners annotate if they are on a Chromebook or an iPad. So I would suggest NOT using these devices for our sessions if at all possible.
