I have used these lessons with wild success in countless classes of young actors. I base them from Nina Czitrom's book, "Take a Bow: Lesson Plans for Preschool Drama" Each class allows children to engage their imaginations and join in gently coached pretend. I am a theatre teacher who teaches ever-revolving groups of children ages 3-20. These pretend adventures are the first step to exercising one's imagination and learning to move and speak freely for a stage, as well as interacting with a director. The stories give lots of space for children to come up with their own ways to react to what is happening in our pretend world and that fosters creativity. In this class children take a trip to Mars: Trip to Space: In this class we go to space! We make our own spaceship and dress up and buckle up! We stop on the way to Mars to see the clouds, the stars, and the sun. When we get to mars we meet a Martian which is a little scary at first until we find out she's a friend. On the way home, time allowing, we stop again to say goodbye to all the fun stops until once again arriving home.
