Presto Change-O Word Family Magic (-Ug, -Un, -Ub Words)

Presto Change-O, Go, Go, Go!  Wow!  In this one-time class, your child will have fun learning how to read and write new words through many activities including the Presto Change-O Word Family Magic Game!  

With the use of word families, your child will increase phonemic awareness (ability to notice, think about, and work with sounds in spoken words) and phonics skills (using print with sounds) which are both essential to reading and spelling.  Students will take part in a variety of activities using rhyming words with blending, sound and letter deletion and substitution.  Students will make a list of the new words taught in the word family.  If time permits, at the end of class, the students will choose one word from their list and draw a picture to go with the word.  Students may have to finish their picture after class.

**This class will focus on the following word families:  -UG, -UN, -UB

**Note to parents:  Your child should know the letters of the alphabet and letter sounds for them to be successful in this class.  This class is meant for learners who are beginning to put sounds and letters together to make words.
