Class Experience

Please make note that this is a flex class. All of the class sections are recordings and not live sessions. I believe a flex class is the best way to present this information for preschoolers. It allows them the flexibility to complete the crafts/activities on their own time table (which I think is so important for this age range). While we will not be meeting live and in person, but there will be plenty of opportunities to interact with each other through the Outschool portal. In addition to being able to use your own time table, you can feel free to pick and choose which activities you participate in. I know some families will complete all the projects while other families may feel it is appropriate to only choose 1 craft out of the 3 each week. Do what works best for your family. The main goal is to learn and have fun together :)

Join me and my puppet friends as we explore the fun summer themes of the beach, watermelon, rainbow, and ice cream. We will cover one theme each week. For each theme/week, I will upload links to the videos for the themed lesson, 3 craft videos, and 1 science activity video. The theme lesson video each week will be a video of the teacher singing the song for the week and discussing the theme. The teacher will use puppets and examples to make the lessons engaging for the students. Each week there will be three separate videos for the crafts. For each craft, the teacher will go over the supplies needed and then walk the students through the steps of the craft. Finally, there will be a video explanation for the science activity for the week.

The teacher will encourage students to interact with the teacher and each other by sharing their crafts/science projects as well as answering questions that the teacher presents during the lessons. The teacher will also encourage the students to participate in a scavenger hunt game. The teacher will ask the students to find an object in the house that goes along with the theme (there will be a specific thing the teacher asks the students to find-it will be posted in the classroom).

The teacher will upload the content for each week late Sunday evening. That way the lesson is available for you to watch Monday of each week. You will receive a detailed supply list upon registering for the class. The content will be rolled out one week at a time.

*If you do not see a time available that works with your schedule please contact me as I can start a class at any time.

Please be sure to read over and agree to the information in the parental guidance section before signing up for the class. I can't wait to meet your preschooler and see all the learning, creating, and fun we can have over the next four weeks!
Learning Goals
The students will be reviewing shapes, colors, and directional words as they listen to the theme lessons and complete the crafts each week.

Parental Guidance
Due to the targeted age group of this class, there is quite a bit of parental involvement. Assistance will be needed to prep the materials for the crafts/experiments you choose to participate in. There may also be specific craft activities/science activities that your child will need your assistance to complete. Your child will also need assistance with uploading pictures/videos to the classroom or teacher for sharing (if you choose to do so). Parents will need to do cutting of certain items if it is not developmentally appropriate for their child to do so. Your participation and your child's participation in the activities and experiments in this lesson are to be done at your own risk and liability. Since we cannot be together in person I cannot be there to govern or have veto power over how something is or is not done.
Supply List
A hand-out will be provided when you enroll in the class. There will be some printables so a printer will be necessary if you choose to do those crafts.
When I designed the class I attempted to choose crafts/experiments that use things you would already likely have in your house. For most of the things that you may not have you hopefully can find them at the Dollar Tree or another inexpensive place :)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Cynthia K and I am so happy you are thinking about joining my class. I have many years of experience with children ranging from infants to 18-year-olds.

I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I used to have a whiteboard and I would set all my baby dolls up and teach them :) In college, I worked in the nursery watching over little ones. During the summer months I worked for an organization that held cheerleading camps throughout the nation. I did this job for four years as both instructor and one year as a director. In college, I received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education (K-8 in TN) and also my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I currently hold a teaching certificate in the state of GA where I also taught Elementary School for 8 years. Once my first child was born I decided to stay home to be with him. I now have 3 children (9 years old, 7 years old, and 4 years old) and I homeschool the two oldest. I currently also teach ESL classes online and have done so for the last 3 years.

My focus in Outschool will likely be with the little ones. I really enjoy the wonder and joy they exude when they are learning something new. I also love to be creative so I will likely offer craft classes as well.

I believe my job as an educator is to prepare my students to be life long learners. I want my students at a very young age to love to learn and understand all the amazing possibilities that can happen if you are open to learning.

Something fun about me is that I was on a Nickelodeon commercial when I was a child. I grew up in Florida and we were visiting Universal one day and they just happened to be looking for kids to be in a commercial. I think I only said two words "cold weather" in the commercial but its always been my claim to fame whenever I play the 2 truths 1 lie game :) We also got to try out for Double Dare while we were waiting (I think I had to roll an egg across the floor with my nose) fun times :)

My favorite thing to do is travel. I love to travel to new places and experience it with my family. This past December we went to Rovaniemi, Finland. If you don't know, Rovaniemi is the official hometown of Santa Claus. It was an amazing experience and we made memories to last a lifetime. I'm hoping to travel more in the near future!

Thank you for sticking through to the end. I will thank you in advance for sharing your little learner with me. My goal is to learn through fun! See you in the classroom!
