Homework Offered
There won't be any required homework, but I will always encourage learners (and parents) to continue learning and exploring class themes outside of class. For instance, during our fall theme, learners can take a nature walk and collect colorful leaves and pinecones! They can go to the library and find a book that digs deeper into a topic we're learning about in class. There are so many educational opportunities that take place outside of the classroom, and I love to encourage and inspire learners and their families to continue those learning experiences together.Assessments Offered

1 file available upon enrollmentI will send printable PDF materials for the upcoming week on Sunday evenings. You should get an email with a link to a learner message with all the information and attached files for that week. Please bring arts and crafts supplies with you to each class as well!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
We will be using arts and crafts supplies, including safety scissors, so parents are highly encouraged to be nearby to help with the hands-on activity or craft we will make at the end of each class. Note about the mute/unmute settings: Since this is a class for young learners, I will be using the mute/unmute button during class so that everyone can hear me and so that everyone gets a chance to speak in class. Before class, it would be helpful to either teach your child how to mute/unmute, have an adult nearby to mute/unmute for your child, or to change the settings so that the teacher can control the mute/unmute settings for your child. I can give directions for how to unmute, but I cannot change the unmute setting for your child on my end.
We may use books in class that go along with the theme of the week and are for educational purposes. They will be used in a transformative way to help students better understand what they are learning in class, and we will do after reading activities to go along with the stories. Parents are encouraged to find the book at their local library or bookstore to read to their child at home. Some books we may read in class are: We Don’t Eat Our Classmates, by Ryan T. Higgins I’m Gonna Like Me by Jamie Lee Curtis A Friend for Bo, by Elisabeth Zuniga Cocoa's Cranky Christmas, by Jodie Shepherd and Beth Hughes When the Wind Blows, by Linda Booth Sweeney and Jana Christy Pumpkin Soup, by Helen Cooper One Snowy Day, by Diana Murray and Diana Toledano (Excerpts from) Read-Aloud Rhymes for the Very Young, selected by Jack Prelutsky, illustrated by Marc Brown Hats Off to You! by Karen Beaumont
