Step into a world of imagination and wonder as we embark on an enchanting journey through thrilling adventures, delightful fairy tales, or cherished storybook gems. Join me for a celebration of creativity and connection! During story time, it’s all about comfort and expression. Encourage your learner to cozy up with a plushie or a fidget—these companions are here for their delight and reassurance. Learners can sit, stand, or even wiggle as they soak in the story. Mics will be muted during story time, so learners are free to be noisy, without causing distraction. When we transition to art time, your learners will get to unleash their creativity! I’ll be demonstrating how to roll, stretch, and shape air dry clay or playdough, and introduce some fun tools to encourage fine motor skill development. Our clay project will echo the enchanting tale we just explored, but learners are free to create anything they can imagine! Remember, it’s not about perfection; it’s about the joy of the process. We will engage in a short clean-up session, guided with care. Sensory-seekers will revel in the squishing and shaping of playdough or clay, a true feast for their senses! And for sensory-avoiders who prefer a milder experience, rest assured that both gluten-free playdough and air-dry clay are excellent alternatives to traditional playdough. They are less sticky than most options and they do not get flaky with use. See the handout in the welcome post for a gluten free playdough recipe and tips to support sensory-avoiders. This interactive experience will foster social skills by creating a safe space for self-expression. Feeling secure and valued are the precursors of confidence and independence. Learners will have opportunities to practice taking turns, sharing their ideas, and celebrating each others’ progress. Guided clean up will gradually develop learners’ sense of responsibility to their home environment and care for their belongings. Let your learners explore at their own pace, and rest easy knowing that every step forward is a victory to be celebrated! Come join us for this extraordinary journey of discovery, connection, and creativity! Finances should never stand in the way of meeting a learner’s educational needs. Check out my “Pay What You Can” policy in my teacher bio or message me for details. Parental Guidance
Playdough:
* Store bought playdough, including the popular brand Play-Doh, may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.
* There is a gluten free playdough recipe in the attachment to the welcome post.
Air dry clay:
* Air dry clay is labeled as non-toxic but I would not use with children who are likely to try to mouth or eat it
* Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Crayola Model Magic and Model Magic Fusion do not contain gluten (wheat flour). However, they are produced on the same machinery as Crayola Dough which does contain gluten.
* This brand is certified gluten free. I have used the white. The texture is not sticky and it dries as it is shaped. No puffing or shrinking. Some reviews of darker colors, especially black, complain about stickiness and trouble drying. I would guess that is due to the dye, so I would stick with lighter colors. https://a.co/d/ifj5oIU
