In this ONGOING Preschool / Pre-K class, learners will get ready for Kindergarten by learning & reviewing the alphabet, letter sounds, colors, shapes, the calendar (days/months), early math-numbers 1-20, basic math skills, and so much more! πŸ“šβœοΈ This is a jam-packed class of learning!! ** This class is ESL/ENL friendly and all learners are welcome. This class is also a great option to add to your homeschool week! ***This is an ongoing class, so your learner can join any week, and you may cancel at any time. ***Please note that this class runs on a 16-week cycle and will begin on Week 1 after the 16th week.

-Welcome to all learners
-Daily Check-In 
- "7 Days" Song/"Days of the Week" Song (discuss day)
- 'Months of the Year' Song- (discuss month & year)
- "What is the Weather" song- discuss weather in learner's area
- Letter, color, shape/number/or positional or directional words activity... (varies throughout the 3-day weekly meetings- SEE WEEKLY/DAILY TOPICS BELOW)

***AFTER each class, several worksheets πŸ—’οΈβœοΈthat go along with that day's topics will be available, for extra practice at home (these worksheets can be found on our class page). These worksheets are NOT needed during class. 

***Parents & Guardians may want to provide their learner with either a dry erase board, marker, and eraser (or paper and pencil / markers) in case their learner would like to write or draw during class.

Learning Goals
Learners will practice:
-identifying colors and providing examples of objects of those colors
-differentiating letters from numerals
-understanding the relationship between numbers & quantities to 10 (cardinal counting)
-answering counting questions using up to 10 objects arranged in different ways
-exploring addition using visuals, objects, or fingers
-sorting 2-D objects into categories
-naming shapes and -observing characteristics (of each shape)
-recognizing and naming some upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet
-participating in small groups (for singing and other class activities)
-listening to follow simple directions
-using gestures & speaking to communicate
-understanding the concept of time measurement (days, weeks, months)
-attempting to use new vocabulary
-understanding & following spoken directions

Learners will begin to:
-print many upper and lowercase letters
-use frequently occurring prepositions (in, on, behind, under....)
-isolate and pronounce initial sounds (phonemes) in 1 syllable words (example: /c/ in cat)
-demonstrate one-to-one letter sound correspondence (example: c-a-t)
-identify numbers to 20/count to 20
-represent a number of objects to 20

Hello! I am a Special Education teacher with more than 19 years of experience, teaching students from ages 2-16, in a variety of settings, including 3 years of online teaching. I hold a Master's Degree in Special Education, grades Kindergarten - High School, and a TESOL-120 hour certificate. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, with a minor in Psychology.
