5 in-class hoursClass Experience
Each section of the class will only have two or three learners to create an experience that is more individualized than a group piano class, but more social and collaborative than a one-on-one piano lesson. Over the course of the 10 weeks each section may progress with a different pace depending on the learners in that class. Here are the learning goals in Preschool Piano Pals Level A: 1. High and Low Sounds in Music 2. Keeping a Steady Beat 3. Finger Numbers and Dependency 4. The Black Keys on the Piano 5. The Musical Alphabet 6. The White Keys on the Piano 7. Rhythms: Beamed Eighth Notes, Quarter Notes, Half Notes, Dotted Half Notes, Whole Notes 8. Songs: Hot Cross Buns, Mary Had a Little Lamb, other songs written by Mrs. Ally These goals are not the main topic for each week, but are the learning goals you can expect your learner to work on and eventually master over the 10 week course. For example, we might start a class working on finger dependency, move to working on keeping a steady beat, then work on a song with different rhythms and notes on the piano. Your learner will be learning how to play songs such as Hot Cross Buns and Mary Had a Little Lamb, but will also learn songs that Mrs. Ally has made for students ages 3 to 5. I do not expect students to sit still and at their piano for 30 minutes, so each class will involve movement, singing, and activities other than just sitting and playing the piano. This creates a more joyful atmosphere for students and a well-rounded music education while they learn about the piano. Movement will not exert students to the point that they will need specific shoes or water on hand.

Supply List
A piano or electric keyboard is required for this class. The size of the keyboard does not matter. Throughout the class you might be required to print a piece of paper and have some crayons or pencils nearby. For classes that need paper/pencil, a week's worth of notice will be given so you will have ample time to print.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello friends!
My name is Ms. Ally and I teach piano lessons.
I have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old, and never stopped! I have a Bachelors of Music Education, and a Masters in Piano Pedagogy (which is just a fancy word for teaching!). I am also a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, credited by the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). In order to receive certifications I have to meet 5 of MTNA's criteria, and uphold those criteria every year.
I value the fun and joy of learning, and work with learners to create that space for them. I like to meet learners where they are at in order to help them grow as musicians and as individuals. My teaching philosophy consists of four specific goals: a joyful space, intentional lessons and planning, a personal learning path for each student, and a place for students to develop their musical skills. These four bingo words (joyful, intentional, personal, musical) are in my mind as I plan and teach each class.
