Class Experience

Welcome to our Preschool in Kindergarten Circle Time! In this ongoing class, students will meet with other kids and enjoy time socializing as we sing songs and learn basic Preschool and Kindergarten concepts and skills, such as reading the calendar, reading letters and pronouncing phonemes, counting, and more!

We will begin every class by greeting one another and singing welcome songs. We will then review the calendar (day of the week, date, weather and season), and follow by reading a story or exploring a concept related to science or social studies (e.g. how plants grow from seeds, animals and festivities in certain parts of the world, etc.). We will then use these concepts as a context and fun basis to explore and learn about letters and numbers, in order to build literacy and numeracy skills. In doing so, we will use of a variety of fun learning activities such as tracing letters and numbers, practice counting fun objects, practicing pronouncing phonemes in three-letter CVC words, and more!

Through this class, my goal is to help your little one make new friends, have a positive and fun time, and learn lots of new things in a way which they will truly enjoy! I have planned the the themes and selected the activities which we will be doing drawing from my experience teaching Preschool to Elementary age students in play-based, standard and Montessori settings. Drawing from the best techniques of each of these methods, we will have a variety of activities and combination of approaches which will surely benefit all learners!

Week of April 4-8: Zoo animals
Week of April 11-15: Fairytales
Week of April 18-22: The senses
Week of April 25-29: Foods
Week of May 2-6: Nursery rhymes
Week of May 9-13: Transportation

Hello! I am Teacher Mirella, and I am thrilled to see you here at Outschool! I have worked with children from preschool to elementary ages for over 3 years, and I absolutely love it! Those experiences have involved working with children in a Montessori preschool, Elementary schools, a before and after school program, as well as special education classrooms. I have recently discovered my passion for online education, as I have taught online ESL classes to children of ages 5-12 years over the past few months. I just love being able to connect with students in different locations, and help them to have fun and enjoy their learning experience! As part of my professional training, I have Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Education, a Montessori certification course, and a professional teaching certification in Canada. Here at Outschool, I will be teaching a variety of classes, including Preschool and Kindergarten Circle Time, Art, Languages (Portuguese, Spanish and French), Nutrition and Mindfulness classes. I believe that learning can and should always be fun! I hope to see you in class soon!
