30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will be frogtastic fun :) The teacher will use a google slides presentation to guide the class and keep the lesson focused. The teacher will begin the class with student introductions and the students will meet the teacher's assistance Hopper the Frog (puppet). We will then go over classroom expectations. The teacher will then read a book about a little green frog. The teacher will ask questions throughout the reading and we will learn some basic frog facts. The teacher will then teach the children a song about a little green frog. Students will then use construction paper and a black marker to make their own little green frog. (Parents please prepare the materials mentioned and provided in the welcome letter to be ready for class). If time permits each child will name their frog and share it with the class. Please note: I keep my preschool classes very small (max 4 learners) so that I can give everyone ample opportunity to participate in class. In order to encourage participation, I try to avoid muting my students. I think this also provides a great opportunity for my little learners to become active listeners :) Please try to put your learner in a quiet environment for an optimal learning experience. I understand sometimes background noise cannot be avoided (I have 3 children under 9 so believe me I understand :) If the situation arises where a child's background noise is distracting to the classroom I may need to mute that child. Please be nearby during the class in case your child needs assistance with unmuting or with the craft. I look forward to a wonderful class together :)

Parental Guidance
Approx. 15 min.: Parents will need to assist students in a pre-class prep activity. The student will need to trace their hands and the shape provided by the teacher on green paper. With parent supervision/assistance the child can then cut out their green handprints, shape, and white paper eyeballs. If the parent feels their child is not ready for cutting it is perfectly acceptable to cut it for them. Please have these three items (frog's hands, eyes, and body) cut and ready for the class as we will not have time to cut them out in class. Please do not write on the shapes or construct them as we will do that portion in class.
Supply List
Pre-class prep: green & white construction paper, scissors, and printer to print frog's body parts During class: Pre-cut shapes, black marker/crayon, glue stick
1 file available upon enrollment
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Cynthia K and I am so happy you are thinking about joining my class. I have many years of experience with children ranging from infants to 18-year-olds.
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I used to have a whiteboard and I would set all my baby dolls up and teach them :) In college, I worked in the nursery watching over little ones. During the summer months I worked for an organization that held cheerleading camps throughout the nation. I did this job for four years as both instructor and one year as a director. In college, I received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education (K-8 in TN) and also my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I currently hold a teaching certificate in the state of GA where I also taught Elementary School for 8 years. Once my first child was born I decided to stay home to be with him. I now have 3 children (9 years old, 7 years old, and 4 years old) and I homeschool the two oldest. I currently also teach ESL classes online and have done so for the last 3 years.
My focus in Outschool will likely be with the little ones. I really enjoy the wonder and joy they exude when they are learning something new. I also love to be creative so I will likely offer craft classes as well.
I believe my job as an educator is to prepare my students to be life long learners. I want my students at a very young age to love to learn and understand all the amazing possibilities that can happen if you are open to learning.
Something fun about me is that I was on a Nickelodeon commercial when I was a child. I grew up in Florida and we were visiting Universal one day and they just happened to be looking for kids to be in a commercial. I think I only said two words "cold weather" in the commercial but its always been my claim to fame whenever I play the 2 truths 1 lie game :) We also got to try out for Double Dare while we were waiting (I think I had to roll an egg across the floor with my nose) fun times :)
My favorite thing to do is travel. I love to travel to new places and experience it with my family. This past December we went to Rovaniemi, Finland. If you don't know, Rovaniemi is the official hometown of Santa Claus. It was an amazing experience and we made memories to last a lifetime. I'm hoping to travel more in the near future!
Thank you for sticking through to the end. I will thank you in advance for sharing your little learner with me. My goal is to learn through fun! See you in the classroom!
