Class Experience

Come take an engaging dance combination class with Miss Kait, Miss Emily, or Miss Elaina! Class begins with 5 minute circle time, warm-ups and stretching exercises as well as activities that encourage boys and girls to use their imagination. During each class, we instruct the children through follow along music as well as work on specific choreography.

During all of our classes we use fun words and phrases to link French Ballet Terminology and Tap steps. Your teacher will ask the dancers questions at times and encourage them to repeat the dance terms.Through the course, the students should learn to say and execute around 10 dance terms (French and English) as well as have a better grasp on balance, gross motor and fine motor skills.

We feel we have an excellent grasp on keeping kids engaged even virtually. Throughout the class we ask them to use verbal responses to imagination questions as well as terminology questions. At the beginning of class and during the class there will be times where we unmute learners to engage them in different conversations regarding dance and imagination. It is recommended that your zoom settings allow us to do this, or for your learner to have assistance in doing this if needed.

If you're looking for a fun, engaging way to have children out some energy and learn some terminology along the way, this is the class for you!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Welcome to Preschool and Elementary Dance taught by Miss Kait, Miss Emily, or Miss Elaina! We begin with engaging the kids with question of the day. Then we move on to warm-ups and stretching exercises as well as activities that encourage boys and girls to use their imagination. We will then introduce ballet, tap, jazz or hip hop techniques using dance terms and examples to enhance their knowledge of the art. During each class, we will instruct the children on dances which will be performed at various times throughout the year. We offer different types of classes depending on the age of the dancer.

About our Instructors:
Miss Kait:
Kait received a BFA in Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State Conservatory. Having studied dance for years and assisted dance classes in high school, Kait is thrilled to have shared her love of dance with hundreds of kids the past two years! Kait’s teaching style is high energy and fun loving. She believes dance is for everybody and wants your child to feel happy & encouraged to learn. Kait loves teaching online in her home studio as well, and hopes to bring a little element of magic to class with her green screen studio. When not teaching, Kait enjoys regularly performing in various comedy shows including improv, clowning, puppetry, and theatrical plays!

Miss Emily:
Emily began dancing at the age of 3 and has over 15 years of dance teaching experience. She has taught many different ages, levels, and styles at studios in Kansas City and in Los Angeles. Emily has her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. From college, Emily went on to dance professionally at Walt Disney World, at sea with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and on tour with Sesame Street Live. While in Los Angeles, Emily danced with several different dance companies in various styles, including as a magician’s assistant! Emily was a semi-finalist at the 2017 World Latin Dance Cup. In 2019, Emily taught at a preschool in Madrid, Spain. Emily was married in August 2019 and has a wonderful dog named Potter.
