Class Experience

Similar to other meetings of the Preschool Book Club, this class will delve into one of Miss Ginny's favorite pieces of Children's Literature! The book of focus this time is "Clifford's First Valentine's Day" by Norman Bridwell. We will sing our book club theme song (to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), read the book via screen share so that learners have up close access to illustrations, have teacher lead question and answer, and time for each child to share their favorite highlights. I have 13 years experience teaching preschool and connecting with kids through books has always been my most treasured activity. Whether your child is a lover of Clifford the Big Red Dog or has not has much exposure to this lovable character, they will enjoy this sweet and humorous Valentine's Day story!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ginny Mehltretter ("Miss Ginny"), and I am a teacher of all things preschool! I especially enjoy teaching early literacy classes. I am the host of Preschool Book Club, a class where young learners delve into a book through listening, sharing, songs, and games. I have a BA in Psychology, with a concentration in Child Psychology, and have been teaching preschool for 13 years! Prior to my preschool years, I taught Sixth Grade science.
I have a passion for connecting with the very young, and I believe that learning is best achieved through play. I love getting to know preschoolers and the stories that shape their days. And I love the joy of discovery that lights up little faces when something new catches their attention.
I am the mother of three dynamic kids, aged 20, 17, and 14. When we're feeling competitive, my family retreats to the backyard for a vigorous game of volleyball!
