In this four-day camp, learners will prepare for their first job. They will create a resume, construct a cover letter, craft responses to common interview questions, and participate in a mock interview.

Beginner Level
In this four-day camp, learners will learn important skills to help them land their first job. They will be given step-by-step tutorials, important tips, and crucial skills to help prepare for their first job.

Below is a breakdown of each class’s focus:


      *** DAY 1 - Create a Resume ***

Learners will be given a step-by-step tutorial on how to create their own resume.

      - Learn how to tailor a resume to a specific job posting



       *** DAY 2 - Construct a Cover Letter ***

Learners will be given a step-by-step tutorial on how to construct a cover letter and what to include in a cover letter.

      - Learn how to organize the cover letter
      - Learn tips on what to include in a cover letter



        *** DAY 3 - Write Responses to Common Interview Questions ***

Learners will be given common interview questions. They will learn important information to give with each question.

      - Learn what employers are looking for in each interview question



          *** DAY 4 - Participate in a Mock Interview ***

Learners will participate in a mock interview session. They will practice answering interview questions.

We will be doing most of our work in Google Docs. It is important that learners have access to Google Docs.

If learners would like me to review their resume or cover letter, they are welcome to send me a copy of their resume in a message. I will provide feedback about their resume or cover letter by the end of our class.

If a learner misses class, I will provide a lesson video. Learners can follow along with the lesson video to complete the class work. I do not provide a refund for missed class.

Lesson 1:
Create Your Resume
 Learners will be given a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a resume. They will create their own resume. Learners will also be given important tips on how to make their resume look professional.

 Learners will be given a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a cover letter. Learners will learn important information to include in a cover letter. They will create their own cover letter. Learners will also learn tips on how to make their cover letter stand out to a potential employer.

Lesson 3:
Design Answers to Common Interview Questions
 Learners will be given a list of common interview questions. They will learn what responses employers are looking for in each question. Learners will write their own responses to each question.

Lesson 4:
Mock Interview
 Learners will participate in a mock interview. Each learner will be asked a few interview questions. Learners will be given positive feedback on their responses, and they will be given tips on how to improve their responses. Learners will also learn important interview etiquette.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
In this class, learners will be using Google Docs throughout the course. This class is designed to help learners begin preparing for their first job. After class, learners may decide to make changes to their resume or cover letter. This class does not guarantee the learner will find employment immediately. This class will help the learner to begin preparing for the application and interview process.
