Class Experience

This class will suit families where the learner can come to class during a week of a letter they need practice with and take off from weeks when they know the particular letter. It is also a great place for ESL students.

The children will be immersed in activities that involve letter recognition (upper and lowercase) as we go through the alphabet (not in sequence). This course will focus on identifying 10 letters and their sounds, isolating beginning, middle, and ending sounds, some beginner blending/reading, and sight words.

Bonus: children will practice writing their names as well.

Week of:
3/14/22--Letters I and K
3/21/22-- Letter D (sight word: and)
3/28/22-- Letters N
4/4/22-- Letter R (sight word: is)
4/18/22-- Letters L and O
4/25/22-- Letter C (sight word: to )
5/2/22-- Letter J and A (long sound)
5/9/22-- Letter F (sight word: me)

The class will begin with an introduction to the letter of the week. I will have letter cards, pictures, slides, etc. that begin with that letter. They will be given chances to distinguish that letter and sound among other letters using slides, worksheets, scavenger hunts, and many other activities.

I will provide practice sheets for them to use as well for the week, so they can practice writing their names every day.

They will need to bring a marker (pencil does not show up very well on the screen) for worksheets and other activities. Please check the supply list for materials they will need on the classroom message page or in your child's messages of the week they are attending.

General Supply List:
-markers
-construction paper
-child safety scissors
-glue
-playdough
-worksheets and other items to be printed (weekly)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Ms. Celeste and I've been a teacher for 20 years. I've spent most of that time with pre-k through second grade with time in the middle of those years as a Basic Skills Coordinator for third through fifth grades. I've also worked with college students in conjunction with the Basic Skills program as a facilitator to pair students with young college adults. I have a B.A from Rutgers University in New Jersey and I hold two teaching certificates, one for Preschool through Second Grade and the other is Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.

When I am not teaching, I like to engross myself in anything creative or "artsy", whether that is acting, photography, or painting.

I am so excited to make this switch from brick and mortar schools to teaching online with Outschool. I look forward to working with your children to provide them with fun and engaging activities and lessons.

See you soon!
Ms.Celeste
