Class experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This is a semester length class for the months of September to mid- February. Learners will have the opportunity to meet other children their age, to build social skills, while we practice pre-kindergarten lessons, in fun way. We will follow a weekly curriculum called "The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood" by Pam Schiller and Pat Phipps, which is focused on the "Whole Child," where each learner will not only learn more about the world around them, but how they are apart of it....
This class is taught in English.
By the end of the semester, I expect learners to recognize most alphabets, numbers, and colors. They should be comfortable holding a pencil, printing their name, and most numbers. Because we have worked on pre-reading skills, the learner should also be able to say the sound of most letters of the alphabet and combine them to blend two or three letter words. Learners will also be knowledgeable of science and math concepts and will be able to share them with you.
I have over 17years of experience teaching children ages 1 month to 17years old. However, most of my career has been spent in early childhood education. I was a lead teacher and program director at several childcare centers. Throughout the years, I have acquired an associate and bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, along with a master's degree in finance. I continue to increase my education, by taking trainings, attending virtual early childhood conferences and networking with fellow educators on many social platforms. I enjoy learning the latest trends in my field, so I can incorporate them into my classroom. These experiences have given me the skills to teach young children many pre-kindergarten skills.
Homework Offered
Some homework will be assigned for this class. Learners will have a series of activity sheets to complete following each class. All large, themed projects such as the "All About Me" or "My Favorite Animal" posters, will need to be completed prior to class. The average amount of time that should be set aside to complete homework is 30 minutes/week. Any reading that occurs outside of class should depend on the needs of your learner. Reading for 10 or 20 minutes per day is highly encouraged.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learners will be assessed informally during class and in a basic report that will be issued to the family at the end of each month. A final assessment will be issued during our last week of class. Please check the message section of our class for assessments at the end of each month.Grades Offered
2 files available upon enrollmentMany of the supplies needed for class can be found around the home. Family photos (pets too!), crayons, glue stick, construction paper, water, empty water bottle, small sticks, rocks, fake flowers, pencils and paper. This list will be more defined in the message section of our class. You will receive a list of materials needed each week. Some weeks little to no materials will be needed.

We will use YouTube to watch video clips, such as visits to snowy places, learning more about weather and different types of pets. Please note that you do not need to have an account with YouTube for your child to access these videos. The videos will be accessed through screen sharing and accessible to all students.
