US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Children who have higher levels of phonological awareness (awareness of the sounds in words) are typically stronger decoders when they begin to read. In this class students will engage in activities to master phonemic awareness, learn all about CVC words, master short vowels and short vowel word families, learn beginning and ending digraphs, as well as long vowel sounds. During each class students will learn a different phonics skill and practice using that skill in order to read and write words. Digital and/or written activities will be provided after each class so that students can practice at home. Students can join at anytime. Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Behavioral Science from Northwestern University
I love teaching children how to read and write! I have a master's degree from the School of Education at Northwestern University and a certificate to teach English as a foreign language from Georgetown University. I was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at an international school, and the head of the English department at an IB school in Africa. I recently started my own literacy program called Whiz Kids International to teach children critical reading and writing skills. I believe in the potential of all children, and teach with patience and encouragement. I look forward to seeing your child in class!
