Beginner Level
In this afternoon meeting we will begin with a share out about our day. We will then sing a phonics song. After singing the phonics song we will learn and/or practice a phonics skill. We will continue with a number review. After that we will read a story together and have a discussion about the story. Our stories will be centered on our topic of learning each week. The last thing students will do is respond to the story in some way (this will vary from class to class). The class will include slides, discussion, active movement and engagement, songs, story time, and other developmentally appropriate learning methods. Teacher expertise and credentials
South Carolina Teaching Certificate
Hi Families! I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and have been a certified early childhood educator of 20 years! I also have a master's degree in educational technology. I have a passion for early literacy and building community with class meetings. I love Disney and LEGOs. I enjoy making learning fun through hands on and active learning. I enjoy tying literacy to other modalities of learning like art or STEM. I feel like learning should be fun for all stakeholders. During the day I can be found teaching and learning with pre-k students. I enjoy spending one month in the summer working with students selected to attend a Summer Reading Camp. I have spent time tutoring students in the areas of math and reading to build confidence and foundational skill base. Arts and STEM are my passion so I try to incorporate that into as many lessons as I can. I enjoy activities and games that build confidence and speaking skills, encourage discussion, problem solving, and creative thinking. The classes I teach include many of the things I believe students enjoy and need for the future. My classes are fun and engaging and often involve a final piece of art or something to share and talk about. When I am not teaching I love playing tennis and dancing. I am a huge Disney and LEGO Fan. My favorite color is pink and I love going on cruises. That is my favorite way to vacation. I love the South Carolina Gamecocks, coffee shops, and shopping on amazon. I look forward to teaching and working with you. If you decide to participate in one of my classes please consider leaving a review. I enjoy feedback because it helps me grow and I am always looking for ways to improve as a learner myself!
