What's included

11 pre-recorded lessons
11 weeks
of teacher support
1 year access
to the content
Homework
4+ hours per week. The homework will be assigned straight from the textbook at the end of each lesson that is covered during the week. It is self-graded, so it is optional. It is just there as a way for students to prepare for the chapter tests.
Assessment
There is a test given as a take-home assignment at the end of each chapter. The tests all need to be completed by the end of the course (there aren't specific due dates for each test). Students will scan in their completed tests and send them to me for grading.
Grading
When a student completes a test, I will grade it and send back a number grade (0-100%), a letter grade, and full explanations for incorrect answers. At the end of the course, I will send them a summary of their grades and their final letter grade. Upon request, I will send a letter of course completion.

Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
This is a self-paced class, which means there are no scheduled live meetings. I will upload videos as YouTube links every week to the Outschool classroom page that students will watch on their own time throughout the week. We will cover just over one chapter of material every two weeks.

Students will watch the video lessons and complete homework assignments for each chapter. Answer keys and worked solutions will be provided so students can self-check their homework. Chapter tests will be assigned for each chapter that I will grade (with feedback!) and return to the students.

Students can message me with questions at any time, and I will answer with a step-by-step video explanation. I try my best to provide same-day responses to questions, and if I receive a message at night, I normally respond early the next morning so students will have their questions answered by the time they start working on the class that day.

I will be running the class through the Outschool classroom page, but students will need access to YouTube to be able to click the video links and watch the lessons.

The pre-requisites for this course are the completion of pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2 with trigonometry, and the first semester of pre-calculus.

Here are the topics we will cover in the class: Applications of Trigonometric Functions, Polar Coordinates; Vectors, Analytic Geometry, Systems of Equations and Inequalities, Sequences; Induction; The Binomial Theorem, Counting and Probability, A Preview of Calculus: The Limit, Derivative, and Integral of a Function

If you haven't taken the first semester of pre-calculus yet, I also offer a "Pre-Calculus Session 1 of 2: Chapters 1-7 (Self-Paced)" class.

Thank you so much for considering my class! I hope to see you in the classroom!
Learning Goals
Understand and apply trigonometric functions to solve real-world problems, including those involving periodic phenomena. Analyze and model situations using trigonometric functions and verify solutions graphically and algebraically.
Gain a deep understanding of polar coordinates and their relationship to Cartesian coordinates. Learn vector operations such as addition, subtraction, and scalar multiplication, and apply these concepts to solve problems involving magnitude and direction.

Supply List
A pre-calculus textbook pdf, homework problems, answer keys, and chapter tests will be provided. Students will need a graphing calculator, or an app on their phone that has the same graphing and trigonometry capabilities as a graphing calculator. Desmos.com or the Desmos app also provide the graphing and calculator capabilities you will need, and they're free to use! Message me if you need help choosing an app :-)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Throughout engineering school, I had to take a lot of challenging courses that required a deep understanding of math skills and concepts from basic arithmetic to calculus, and beyond! I valued the teachers I had in high school who forced me to truly understand these concepts by teaching them in ways that actually made sense. I completely credit them with my passion for math and my desire to help students understand it in the way that I do now. I have been teaching high school math courses for 5 years , and I don't plan to stop any time soon :-)
