Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
Class Overview:
Writing and graphing linear equations is one of the basic foundations of Algebra. In this class we will take a step by step approach to mastering Linear Equations. The class begins with a warm up problems to get the students' brains focused on math and problem solving. I will provided guided notes each week for students to fill in important information as well as have guided practice problems to refer back to. After notes and guided practice, I like to switch to the individualized interactive whiteboards for practice problems so that I can give students personal feedback on their work. We usually end each class with a game to reinforce the skill of the week or review a prior week. Students will be given an optional homework assignment to complete before the next class. They can email me a picture of their completed work so I can give them feedback on what they've done.
Prior Knowledge: Solving one and two step equations.

My teaching style tends to be easy going and laid back. I believe in building a mutually respectful relationship with each student in order to establish a comfortable environment for kids to grow and learn. Building self-confidence in math is always one of my main goals!

Parental Guidance
We use Blooket and Whiteboard.fi during our class. This is a Kahoot owned company which has been approved by Outschool. We use Blooket to play a game at the end of class and use Whiteboard.fi for the interactive whiteboard practice. No account is needed for either site.
Supply List
Students should bring a calculator to class. Students should also be able to print materials for class. Because we are working with graphs, graph paper is preferable. I will provide a page to print in the classroom before class starts.
