Entrepreneurial Background:
I am a certified business teacher who teaches elementary, middle, and high school students entrepreneurship. Several years ago, I owned, ran, and eventually sold an accounting practice. As an accountant, aside from preparing tax returns and financial statements, I wrote business and financial plans for my clients. The accounting practice was very profitable. However, my love for teaching students far outweighed operating an accounting practice. In addition, in New York City, I hosted a U.S. Small Business Administration award-winning radio program that lasted for several years. The radio program was focused on small business management and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, I taught entrepreneurship at New York University and Baruch College.

Mathematics Background: I am a licensed and certified math teacher who enjoys teaching, especially remotely. I have been teaching for over 15 years. With a Master of Education Degree (M. Ed) in Mathematics Education, I have taught Pre-K through 12 grade. Earning a Master of Science Degree (M.S.) in Educational Leadership, I have also taught at the university level and coached elementary school teachers in teaching math. I believe that we are all capable of learning math. I enjoy discovering each of my students’ modes of learning, whether visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic. I look forward to meeting many different students and having fun teaching math. I eagerly await exploring the concept of integers with students and using this wonderful platform.

English Language Arts Background: They say that it is rare for a person to have a passion for both Mathematics and English Language Arts. Well, I guess I’m that person. In college, I minored in English Language Arts and enjoyed writing. Among my many other extra curricular activities, I tutored essay writing in college. Tutoring brought me to the question: “What would you like to do in life?” I answered: “…become an Educator.” In my professional life, I have written several articles over the years and for eight years I hosted and produced a radio talk show. I use writing as an educational tool in my classroom. My students gain a deep understanding of mathematical concepts by taking pen to paper; one has to think in order to write. In other words, writing improves cognitive skills because it forces you to think.

My approach to teaching is having student-led learning. If the learner is enjoying what is being taught, then there will be more engagement and the learning will be retained.

Specialties: Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Mathematics, English Language Arts (ELA) - reading and writing, and African-American History.
