Class Experience

This class will review basic Pre-Algebra skills with a focus on preparing for Algebra 1.
Students are able to join for a day if they only need a refresher on a specific topic or stay for the whole course to get a complete review of Pre-Algebra.

At the beginning of each session we will review any skills needed for the lesson with a set of warm-up problems. Next, as a class, we will solve several problems related to the goal of the session. At the end of each session, students will have an opportunity to attempt several problems on their own. This allows students to gain confidence in their abilities, discover any additional questions, and receive instant feedback about their work.

In my classes, I love to hear student's ideas on how to solve different problems. I think it is valuable for students to make mistakes because that is how we learn and grow. This means students will attempt and discuss problems as a class while I offer feedback and suggestions.

Blank copies of the notes will be posted at the beginning of each week.

Hi! My name is Mrs. Coblentz.
I offer classes on Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1.
During the school year, I teach both Pre-Algebra and Algebra at private middle school. I graduated college with a BS in High School Math Education with a middle school endorsement. I have experience teaching Algebra to students in middle school, high school, and college.
People use math skills everyday in their jobs, daily tasks, and even free time! I am passionate about sharing the importance and wonder of math in our world. If your child can get excited about basketball statistics or enjoy the beauty of nature around them, they can enjoy their math class too!
I will warn you, I am a fan of cheesy jokes.
So join one of my classes if you are ready to bite into a piece of pi with me!
