Pre-Algebra, Semester 1
In Math 7 Pre-Algebra, students tackle real-world scenarios with algebra, rational numbers, and proportional relationships while laying the groundwork for advanced geometry concepts explored in Math 8.
What's included
16 live meetings
10 hrs 40 mins in-class hoursMastery Evaluation
1-2 hours per week. I will quiz the learners weekly to see how they understood each concept. Then, at the end of the course, learners take a final exam.Assessment
I will provide learners' quiz scores as they complete them, plus the final exam score, and a final grade.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
In the Math 7 Pre-Algebra course, students focus on real-world scenarios and mathematical problems involving algebraic expressions and linear equations and begin to apply their understanding of rational numbers with increased complexity. The course lays the foundation for exploring concepts of angle, similarity, and congruence, which are more formally addressed in Math 8, as students work with scale drawings and construct and analyze relationships among geometric figures. Students also develop and apply an understanding of proportional relationships. My class is structured in the I do-We do-You do format. I will teach and model the concept for students. Then, we will practice as an entire group. Next, learners will be placed in pairs or small groups in breakout rooms to practice. Finally, learners will be placed in their own breakout room to practice individually. I'm available via chat to pop into any breakout room if a learner requires assistance. Some sessions, especially review sessions, will be in game format. Provided learners use it appropriately, the chat will stay open the whole session so students can discuss the lesson with each other.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to (SWBAT) demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of key pre-algebra concepts with 85% accuracy by the end of the course.
