Pre-Algebra (Math Camp Part 2)

Students will meet 3x/week to practice Prime Factorization, Ratios/Rates, Order of Operations with exponents. Each lesson will contain an activity to complete or an educational game.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 7
A continuation of Pre-Algebra Camp 1. This course will meet three times for a week and each day will consist of one topic. Student are encouraged to have paper and pencil ready for additional support. Course will use Zoom whiteboard, if student feels comfortable using paper/pencil that can also be an option.

Day 1 - Prime Factorization
- Introduction/Ice Breaker.
- Warm Up.
- Topic and examples that we will work out through google slides or Zoom whiteboard. 
- Demonstrating strategies to solve for the problems together.
- Allow some independent time to apply strategy to word problems from activity. Provide feedback through whiteboard.fi or Zoom whiteboard 
- Clarify any questions/concerns about lesson
*** If time allows we will use Blooket/Gimkit (educational game) to review more word problems ***
- Finish class with an exit ticket to allow student to demonstrate mastery.

Day 2 - Ratios/Rates
- Introduction/Ice Breaker.
- Warm Up
- Topic and examples that we will work out through Zoom whiteboard.
- Demonstrating strategies to solve for the problems together.
- Allow some independent time to apply strategy to word problems from activity. Provide feedback through whiteboard.fi or Zoom whiteboard (Paper will be provided to print or student can use their own sheet of paper to copy)
- Clarify any questions/concerns about lesson/problems.
***  If time allows we will use Blooket/Gimkit (educational game) to review more word problems. ***
- Finish class with an exit ticket to allow student to demonstrate mastery.


Day 3 - Order of Operations with Exponents.
- Introduction/Ice Breaker.
- Warm Up (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to help review before working with order of operations).
- Topic and examples that we will work out through Zoom whiteboard.
- Demonstrating strategies to solve for the problems together. (Student will be allowed to annotate in Zoom whiteboard to provide feedback - Apply PEMDAS acronym)
- Allow some independent time to apply PEMDAS acronym strategy to problems. Provide feedback through whiteboard.fi or Zoom whiteboard 
- Clarify any questions/concerns about lesson/problems.
*** If time allows we will use Blooket/Gimkit (educational game) to review more word problems. ***
- Finish class with an exit ticket poll to allow student to demonstrate mastery.


At the end of each lesson, extra practice assignments can be provided upon request. Any materials that will be used in class will be available to view if wish to print or student can also copy on own sheet of paper.
Note for sessions students will need access to Whiteboard.fi a resource for students to draw (mouse adaptable) and demonstrate work. This will allow for me to view student whiteboard screen and provide individualized feedback. Classmates will only view their screen and not others.
