US Grade 5 - 6
This course will meet three times for a week and each day will consist of one topic. Student are encouraged to have paper and pencil ready for additional support. Course will use Zoom whiteboard, if student feels comfortable using paper/pencil that can also be an option. Day 1 - Simplifying Fractions (equivalent fractions) - Introduction/Ice Breaker. - Warm Up. - Topic and examples that we will work out through google slides or Zoom whiteboard. - Demonstrating strategies to solve for the problems together. (Task card activity) - Allow some independent time to apply strategy to task card activity. (Provide feedback through whiteboard.fi or Zoom whiteboard) - Clarify any questions/concerns about lesson *** If time allows we will use Blooket (educational game) to review more problems *** - Finish class with an exit ticket poll to allow student to demonstrate mastery. Day 2 - Order of operations (no exponents) - Introduction/Ice Breaker. - Warm Up (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to help review before working with order of operations). - Topic and examples from digital task cards that we will work out through Zoom whiteboard. - Demonstrating strategies to solve for the problems together. (Student will be allowed to annotate in Zoom whiteboard to provide feedback - Apply PEMDAS acronym) - Allow some independent time to apply PEMDAS acronym strategy to problems. Provide feedback through whiteboard.fi or Zoom whiteboard - Clarify any questions/concerns about lesson/problems. *** If time allows we will start a Blooket activity that works with order of operations. *** - Finish class with an exit ticket poll to allow student to demonstrate mastery. Day 3 - One step equations (all 4 operations) - Introduction/Ice Breaker. - Warm Up (operation problems). - Lesson will be displayed in google slides and I will annotate on screen to demonstrate strategies to work out examples (google slides or Zoom whiteboard). - Demonstrating strategies to solve for the problems together. - Allow some independent time to solve problems from an activity. (Provide feedback through whiteboard.fi or Zoom whiteboard) - Clarify any questions/concerns about solving one step equations using inverse operations. *** If time allows we will use Blooket (educational game) to review more problems *** - Finish class with an exit ticket poll to allow student to demonstrate mastery. At the end of each lesson, slides that were demonstrated in class will be available in the class page. Badge: #academia
