In this class, students will be taught Pre-Algebra. In this first quarter of the school year, we will cover the following topics: - Real Numbers - Expressions - Equations - Inequalities The class will be structured so that each topic is a unit of learning. Students and parents can expect that each class will include: - The class will begin with a opening activity - review of homework questions - then a lecture or skill building activity - finally a lesson closer I will teach using the following: - Guided notes - Powerpoints My teaching style is a combination of direct instruction, peer to peer interaction, and student discussion. Students will interact with me, the teacher, through the following mediums: lecture, games, slides, video clips, projects, and discussion. Student should have passed Math 7 or Math 8 before taking this class. Students will be assigned practice problems, worksheets, reflections, or activity links on websites like Quizlet and Quizizz to build math fluency. This class will be in depth and challenging. I have taught foundational mathematics for the past 5 years and it is definitely one of my most enjoyable classes. This class will be in depth and challenging It is especially recommended for students who plan be taking Algebra 1 at the middle school level, or are considering applying to Honors programs at the high school level in the next school year.

Requirements for to take this class:
- Student must be entering Grade 9, or Grade 8, or Grade 7 WITH Teacher Recommendation AND Student and Parent must commit to developing student study habits outside of the classroom, this class is not easy and requires regular effort, and practice. I suggest dual enrolling in a study skills course.
Learner will need an email address to use google classroom. All other resources can be accessed without an email address.
