Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 8
In this four day class, we will learn about three important theorems that relate to triangles.
Day 1, we will explore the Interior Angle Theorem. We will use a mix of a hands-on approach as well as notes and practice.
Day 2, we will explore the Exterior Angle Theorem. We will continue our approach of hands-on notes and practice.
Day 3, we will explore the Pythagorean Theorem using 2 dimensional right triangles.
Day 4, we will explore the Pythagorean Theorem in 3D models. We will also cover word problems and real life scenarios where these theorems are used.

Although participation is encouraged, students who feel uncomfortable speaking up in a group will not be required. As a Special Education teacher, I will employ a variety of techniques to reach students and provide them the support they need.

Students should feel comfortable solving two-step equations prior to taking this class. They also should be familiar with squaring numbers and square roots. We will briefly review square roots on day 3.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to use the Interior and Exterior Angle Theorems and the Pythagorean Theorem.
