================== π Why this Teacher? π ================== π This class is led by a licensed and certified teacher with 16 years of experience volunteering with and teaching PreK and Kindergarten students! π This class comes with handouts! The supplemental worksheets provided will be a great way for learners to show their grown-ups what they learned in class. These worksheets are located in the Welcome Message in our Outschool classroom. You can take a picture and share your completed worksheet in your class review! πͺπ» I bring ENERGY to every class so your learner will stay engaged and want to return for more! ================ CLASS OVERVIEW ================ Welcome aboard, learner! Prior to setting sail on our pirate adventure, children should be able to count from 1-10 in sequential order while using one-to-one correspondence (using their fingers to count, understanding one item equates to one number). Using physical manipulatives, an engaging slide show, and plenty of pirate personality, students will practice: π΄ββ οΈ cardinal counting: counting in sequential order π΄ββ οΈ one-to-one correspondence: pointing to a displayed visual while counting π΄ββ οΈ decomposing numbers: breaking numbers into two smaller parts π΄ββ οΈ addition: counting individual groups, then using forward cardinal counting to arrive at our answer π΄ββ οΈ subtraction: counting individual groups, then using backward cardinal counting to arrive at our answer π΄ββ οΈ recognizing algebraic symbols ( + & -) ================= TEACHER MESSAGE ================= Thank you for taking the time to read about this class! I am excited to create a positive relationship with your learner and watch them grow! Teaching is my passion, and I can't wait to bring that energy to the classroom! β€οΈ Ms. Vee
Learning Goals
K.CC.4 - Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities connect counting to cardinality.
K.CC.4a - When counting objects say the number names in the standard order pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
K.CC.4b - Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted
K.CC.4c - Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger
K.CC.6 - Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than less than or equal to the number of objects in another group e.g. by using matching and counting strategies.
K.OA.1 - Represent addition and subtraction with objects fingers mental images drawings sounds (e.g. claps) acting out situations verbal explanations expressions or equations.
K.OA.2 - Solve addition and subtraction word problems and add and subtract within 10 e.g. by using objects or drawings to represent the problem
K.OA.3 - Decompose numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way e.g. by using objects or drawings and record each decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g. 5 = 2 + 3 and 5 = 4 + 1).

Music can be explored and made in a variety of ways.
We can:
ππΌ use movement to convey ideas
π€ experiment with our voices
π΅ learn to read and express musical ideas
Learning an instrument challenges the brain in various ways.
It requires:
π§ mental focus
πͺπ» physical agility
π new ways of thinking
In exchange, students achieve:
π§ improved memory and attention
πͺπ» enhanced fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
π emotional regulation
π That's all to say, learning an instrument changes your brain for the better!

I can't wait to share my love of music with you through song, dance, or learning a new instrument and reading music! However you'd like to experiment with music, I'm honored to be part of this journey with you.
