US Grade Preschool - 1
At the beginning of each class the teacher will practice basic greetings with every student in attendance. The teacher will then introduce a subject to draw. Students are encouraged to draw freely in their own style with their own medium of choice (examples: crayons, dark pencil lead or felts). However, some students prefer a little guidance on how to draw the subject matter, which the teacher can provide. While drawing, students are encouraged to give feed-back on the topic and later to describe what they have drawn. This is always meant to be a fun and constructive atmosphere. Many students love to draw and the best way to learn conversational english is to have conversation about something you know and love! This is an ongoing class, and as such, each week we will have different topics to draw about beyond the 4 classes that are listed below as examples: Week 1 class 1 we will draw basic farm animals. Week 2 class 2 we will draw some wild animals. Week 3 class 3 we will draw a back yard and things you can find in a back yard Week 4 class 4 we will discuss things you can find in the city More specifically: Week 1/ class 1 we will draw basic farm animals. Each student will be encouraged to draw the animals one by one, and write down the name of what they are drawing. Once they have completed one drawing they will be encouraged to share it with the class and verbally describe their picture. The teacher will also encourage dialogue about the subject matter, such as, "What do you like about this animal?" or "What do you dislike about this animal." Furthermore, the teacher will draw each animal, and will speak english about the subject matter and how to draw it. This will encourage growth in comprehension. The teacher and each student will do the activities above for each drawing. Week 2/ class 2 we will draw some wild animals. All of the activity listed above will be encouraged and discussed. Week 3/ class 3 we will draw a back yard and things you can find in a back yard such as a garden, tools, and animals. For english practice and comprehension all of the listed activities above will be encouraged. Week 4/ class 4 we will discuss things you can find in the city such as buildings, cars, trucks, parks, park bench, people, and police. All of the classroom participation and activity above will be encouraged and discussed. Please note: As an experienced ESL teacher the instructor is aware that children may be at different comprehension and english speaking competency levels and the dialogue between teacher and student can and will be adjusted accordingly to maximize student learning.
Learning Goals
The students will learn how to say the name of and write the name of the objects they are drawing.
The students will practice descriptive and conversational english.
The students will gain english comprehension practice by listening to the teacher's discussions, instructions and by participating in short dialogues with the teacher.

Hello! Welcome to TeachAcres Inc.
Our classes are dedicated to socio-emotional learning, conflict resolution, effective communication, English Reading/Writing, Indigenous History, and learning through Art, and my favourite ADHD Coaching!
My name is Kelene McCaffrey.
I am a qualified licensed Canadian teacher working on my Masters of Education. My certifications are: Teacher (Certificate of Qualification), TESOL, and CCRC (Mediation). I have many years of experience teaching communication skills online, teaching ESL, tutoring 1-1, and have in-person classroom experience. I also have an extensive business background. I have completed ADHD Training through PESI, and am currently working through an ASD Executive Function Coach Internship. I strongly believe in student focused learning as opposed to straight lectures.
Why me?
I am always trying to be that engaging teacher that students can't wait to meet again online. I try to make my lessons lively and student focused. I have home-schooled my own children, taught preschoolers to read, taught E.S.L. and Junior High, helped tutor High School and University students with their writing skills, and worked as a Sales Trainer. Presently, my main focus and training is for ADHD students. One can safely assume that teaching and supporting students is my VIBE!
Aside from my business, mediation and teaching side, I grew up in a French bilingual home where my mother encouraged my music and cartooning interests. As a result, today, my hobbies include, but are not limited to, playing piano, writing music, and dabbling in cartoon drawings.
