Class Experience

This class is designed to help your child learn and experience the basics of pottery. In order to allow for drying time of the clay, this course has two meetings.

For the first meeting, participants will do a virtual tour to learn about traditional pottery as both a practical art and as an artistic medium. They will learn about a famous female potter, Sonabai Rajawar. Then we will create a pinch pot animal container & clay beads for a necklace using air dry clay.

For the second meeting, participants will learn about modern pottery and kilns through a virtual tour of a pottery studio. They will paint their clay creations from the week before, and add a acrylic sealant to finish their pieces. To complete their pottery experience, learners are encouraged to visit a local pottery or ceramic studio in their area to paint a piece of bisque ware and have it fired in a kiln.

Individuals can take this course or small groups. If you would like to request a private group session, please reach out. I do offer group discounts!
