Hi! I am Laura, and I am thrilled to meet your learner! I am a dynamic and energetic learning leader with 20+ years of experience in education and relationship development. My passion is helping others identify their goals and guiding them to a meaningful and realistic pathway toward mastery.

My approach to teaching is 3-pronged: 1) interdisciplinary, 2) student-driven, and 3) grounded in developing the complete profile of the learner. Using this approach, I am afforded the room for differentiation within my classes and instructional methods that has grown and adapted over situation, age range, and setting. Learner preference and success is at the highest priority when it comes to partnering with me as your educational guide.

To my craft of teaching, I bring
- strong skills as a strategic planner and organizer,
- an attentive and observant approach to make the plans personalized
- utilization of developed and forward thinking instructional methods that have been proved out across settings, subjects, and ages
- custom content that is planned with deliberate practice in mind
- efficiency at setting a learning plan tailored for you
- experience of instructing a wide age range and supporting whole families of a lifetime of learning
- An approach that incorporates one’s own lived experiences
- A plan to create new experiences that help learners develop a comprehensive profile

Content is unique and original as appropriate to the lesson with all content and activities mapping back to the National Standards for Music Education, the Royal Academy of Music Syllabi, or the appropriate related cross-curricular content skill list. There are classes where standardized and reviewed material is used for guidance, such as in the case of private instrument study or specific exam preparation study. My experience across age ranges from preschool to adult allows me to set plans that begin with the end in mind; therefore, the learner profile and goals are a cornerstone of how I teach. Learner plans and class recaps are made available for options of learning pathways that result in deliberate and focused independent experiences outside of the teacher instruction. Through my class experience offering, I work to foster a growth mindset and support integrity and personal accountability. I approach this with positivity and an open mind while delivering feedback that helps learners answer the essential question, “How do I grow more?”

I have spent a lifetime perfecting my instructional leadership and entrepreneurship. From a young age I was instructing youth performance practice in sports and music, both private, group, and elite performance. After achieving my teaching certificate in music education, I took on the responsibilities as a music director for over 10 years serving public and private school systems throughout the Eastern United States (rural, suburban, and urban environments). Each teaching experience offered new challenges where I developed my leadership and business acumen. Some programs needed grant writing, others needed a non-profit to manage the demand, others needed a regional organization to support elite and competitive student performance and evaluations for teachers as standards and expectations grew more specific. As a result of my success in business operations, I began a career in business development and program management where I found success in sales, public speaking, writing and delivering programs and supporting subject matter expertise in the field of public safety and emergency management.

My educational journey is a testament to my commitment to continuous learning. I hold a master's degree in music from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor's in music from Ohio University. My learning doesn't stop there. I have attained multiple professional certificates that keep me visionary and forward-thinking with my ideas.

When I am not working with learners online, you can find me on the tennis court, exploring the world, or supporting my daughter as she grows in her lifelong endeavors. My active lifestyle has made me an avid experience collector of incredible adventures.

I would be delighted to guide your learner to become a connected thinker and expert performer on their journey to creating the world they want to enjoy.
