I loved my time as a cheerleader when I was a young girl, and I want to share my passion with your student! There are many different elements of cheerleading: cheers, chants, jumps, dances, pom sequences, stunts, tumbling, and kicks. There are also different kinds of cheerleading: school, recreational, allstar, professional, Pop Warner, etc. Each week we will discuss something involving the world of cheerleading and then practice our cheerleading skills. Some examples of topics we might discuss and skills we might practice include: *The History of Cheerleading *Practicing Our Motions and Spiriting *What is the Difference Between a Herkey and a Hurdler? Practicing Our Jumps *The Importance of Tumbling in Cheerleading; Conditioning Drills to Improve Tumbling Skills

Parental Guidance
Some weeks of the class, we will practice basic tumbling skills like forward rolls and cartwheels. Please have a soft surface or gymnastics or yoga mat to practice on, and please make sure a guardian or caregiver is present while the student participates in club meetings in case of muscle strain or injury. The same mat/soft surface will also be used for stretching.
