Class Experience

In this ongoing adventure, we will be exploring the Kanto Region as trainers catch and battle Pokémon in a quest to be the very best! Trainers will be introduced to the world of Pokémon as they receive their starter Pokémon from Professor Oak, catch wild Pokémon and battle other trainers across the region, gather Gym Badges, and face off against the infamous Team Rocket!

Trainers will begin at level one, and their characters will grow stronger as they complete weekly "episodes" and battle more Pokémon! The episodic nature of this adventure will allow students to join in at any time, provided they have a character prepared for the adventure!

IF THE STUDENT IS NEW TO POKÉMON TTRPGS, I *highly* recommend taking my "Introduction to Pokémon TTRPGs!" class so that they may learn the basics and create a character, as we will not be taking time for character creation in class. If a student does not have a character prepared before their first time in the class, they will be provided a pre-generated character so that they can hop right into the action!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello friends! My name is Jonah M. Jackson, and I am a professional actor, puppeteer, dungeon master and podcaster based in Nashville, TN! I am excited to bring my experience and expertise in these areas to Outschool, helping your child express and unleash their creativity in a variety of class offerings!

In my Acting classes, we will work on essentials like monologues, scene study, and audition preparation. This could be especially helpful for teens considering auditioning for a college program or kids trying to land a part in their school play!

In my Puppetry classes, we will work on basic puppetry skills as well as puppet construction. We will learn about a variety of puppets, including hand puppets, rod puppets, shadow puppets, and marionettes. You will receive a list of recommended materials for each class for your child to have the best possible hands-on puppetry experience!

In my Tabletop RPG classes, we will learn about character creation and core mechanics of games like Dungeons & Dragons, Pokémon 5E, Monster of the Week, Tiny Dungeon, and more! I will also run short-term as well as ongoing campaigns in various game systems, allowing your child to experience the full benefits of playing tabletop games in a setting where they can feel free to learn and grow! TTRPGs enhance social-emotional, creative thinking, problem-solving, mathematics, and public speaking skills, and will connect your child with other children who have similar interests!

In my Podcasting classes, we will learn about the basics of podcasting - developing a concept, gathering equipment (both basic and advanced - you can make a podcast on any budget!), recording and editing audio, and publishing content! Help your child turn their creative ideas into a polished product that they can share with the world!

I am passionate about encouraging children's creativity, and the variety of knowledge and skills that I have acquired over the years has allowed me to become a well-rounded artist and individual. I would not be the person that I am today if my creative spirit was not encouraged from an early age. I hope that by sharing my skills with your child through Outschool, I can help them grow not only in the classroom, but in their everyday life as well!

My Credentials: I received my BFA in Acting and Directing from Lipscomb University and have worked professionally as an actor all around Nashville, appearing in productions at the Nashville Repertory Theatre, Nashville Children's Theatre, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, and Studio Tenn, among other companies in the region. I am a member of the Puppet Truck, which is part of Wishing Chair productions, a Tennessee cultural staple and resident puppet troupe at the Nashville Public Library. I am also a dungeon master, player, and the lead producer of the Quest Company and Quest Company Junior podcasts, two TTRPG actual-play podcasts that can be found on any podcasting platform!
