6 in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
In this multi-day 1-on-1 class we will focus each week on introducing, learning, and practicing a different set of multiplication facts. During each session, we will play a Pokemon themed memory game to introduce and/or help solidify a designated set of multiplication facts. In order to reinforce the specific set of multiplication facts, multiple memory games may be played, as time permits. At the end of each class, we will work together using a PDF I send the student to extend the lesson and create a Sunflora (Pokemon sunflower) multiplication flower. We will color our flower, fill it out together and, through this process, review all of the multiplication facts learned during our class session. The student will then be able to use their flower throughout the remainder of the week, practicing the multiplication facts learned in class and cement the learned material before our next class. At the beginning of each new class session, and based on an assessment of the student's ability to accurately recall previously learned multiplication facts, we will either go over those facts again or move on to our next number set. These assessments will allow us to move at the pace of the student so the schedule will move according to the student's developing proficiency. The schedule below is a basic outline of what each class will cover and is dependent on the learner's content comfort. Week of Jan 17th: 0's and 1's Week of Jan 24th: 2's Week of Jan 31st: 3's Week of Feb 7th: 4's Week of Feb 14th: 5's Week of Feb 21st: 6's Week of Feb 28th: 7's Week of March 7th: 8's Week of March 14th: 9's Week of March 21st: 10's Week of March 28th: 11's Week of April 4th: 12's

Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.
My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!
Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, two cats and puppy! I love online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
