Calling all Pokemon fans! Choose your Pokemon and prepare for the journey ahead in the Johto Region. Together in this camp, we will train our Pokemon by learning terminology, how to add/subtract fractions, manage mixed values (adding/subtracting), reduce fractions and practice solving various problems of this nature. Are you ready to be the very best and obtain all 8 badges in our journey? Note: Fractions require multiplication and student's comfortable with multiplication will do best in this course. Schedule: Day 1: Terminology Adding Fractions Practice Problems Day 2: Review Terminology Subtracting Fractions Practice Problems Day 3: Adding Mixed Numbers (whole numbers with fractions) Practice Problems Day 4: Subtracting Mixed Numbers (whole numbers with fractions) Practice Problems Day 5: Camp review of all content learned in Jeopardy format Topics include: adding/subtracting fractions (2 separate topics), adding/subtracting mixed numbers (2 separate topics) and Pokemon Trivia (as a fun reward for all the students' hard work)
Learning Goals
By the end of this camp, students will understand everything related to adding and subtracting fractions. This includes numerators, denominators, adding/subtracting fractions, reducing fractions and mixed values. Furthermore, we will use two common methods: The "easiest" common denominator and the least common denominator.
