Class Experience

You can write poetry! I’ll start by briefly defining imagery and giving examples. Then we’ll work together as a class to create our own imagery examples. After that, you’ll write your own poem and have the opportunity to share it if you wish. This class is appropriate for both reluctant and enthusiastic writers and builds analytical and creative thinking skills. My goal is always that students will end class feeling confident about their new knowledge and skills, and they'll have a poem to prove it!

Indiana Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
Welcome! I am a licensed Language Arts teacher for grades 5-9 and music K-12. I have ten years of public school teaching experience in middle schools and ten years of private teaching experience with ages five through adult. I have a bachelor’s degree in music education, a master's degree in music performance, and I’m currently writing a book.

In my classroom, my students feel welcome and heard, and they grow intellectually. All lessons are designed to strengthen various critical thinking and analytical thinking skills. I work hard to be sure lessons are engaging and kid-friendly. I’ve had success working with both reluctant learners and advanced learners.

I live in the Midwest with my two daughters and our little miniature Schnauzer. I hope you decide to try a class!
