In this on-going course, students will be presented with a poem to read, review and discuss. Poems will range from modern American to classical British, to everything in-between! Poems will be relatively short for in-class reading and comprehension. Students will also receive an education on poetic terms and conventions as highlighted by the poem selected for that week's discussion. Class will follow the same basic format: 1. The poem will be introduced to the class and a short biographical explanation of the author and the poem's history/background will be explained. 2. The poem will be read to the class. 3. Students will be given time to create a reflection that will include their interpretation of the poem. 4. Students will be given time to discuss their interpretations with teacher feedback.
