Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
Poetry class is a fantastic option for children because it nurtures creativity and self expression in a fun and engaging way. Through exploration of different poems of styles and forms, students discover their unique voice while enhancing their reading skills. Poetry encourages imagination and emotional awareness, helping kids connect to the world around them. Plus, it fosters a sense of community as students share and celebrate each other's work, making learning both enjoyable and collaborative.

WHY THIS CLASS:
This course builds on comprehension and developing an understanding of poetry and each literary domain. Poetry can also enhance Reading and English Language Arts skills in many areas. While this course is aligned with state specific and federal standards, it also helps students to gain ground quickly in middle school standards.

This course teaches writing through using poetry ( however, we do not write poetry) tis focuses on more informative, opinion, and creative extention writing objectives. We learn style and structure and conventions and mechanics as well as some grammar focuses.

But that is not all. This course is designed to meet the needs of various learners including adhd, autism, dyslexia, and other neurodivergent learning styles. For all second and third grade students, of any ability, this poetry class will be the most effective course in English Language Arts.

Students can develop socially, emotionally, and cognively in this course making it ideal place to be. This course will enhance their overall learning experiences. Poetry can enhance reading and ELA (English Language Arts) skills in several key areas to include:

Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of North Carolina Pembroke
I have a degree in Education and experience teaching elementary and middle school students. My classes are centered around English Language Arts and I have experience teaching ESL students. I am Tosel and TEFL certified.

Hello, I am Ms Mumma ( pronounced Mum- ah)

ABOUT ME: As a teacher I believe that we should provide students with the skills and opportunity to learn and grow. I think that students are more apt to care what you know, when they know that you care and I hope that I live that philosophy out in my classroom. I am excited about teaching and passionate to guide students learning.

Personally, I absolutely love reading. There is a book by Dr Suess that really does so much more than entertain. It is called " Oh, the Places You Will Go." This book truly sets people of all ages up for success! While there are many quotes I could pull from this fabulous writing, my favorite is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” - This quote emphasizes the idea of self-direction and the ability to choose your own path. I hope my guidance leads others to develop the confidence to choose the right path for them.

WHAT MAKES ME QUALIFIED: I am an experienced teacher in the classroom setting. I have experience online as well. I started teaching virtually with my local school district about 4 years ago, in the Southern USA. Now, I'm teaching virtually on outschool, to students all over the world.

I currently teach middle school classes as well as upper elementary classes. My classes are centered on English Language Arts and ESL. I teach ELA Homeschool, Writing, Grammar, Spelling, Reading, Speaking, Vocabulary, Poetry, Literature, English as a Second Language, and more.

I have multiple degrees in Education. I am completing my certification as a registered IEW Writing Instructor. I am also certified in TOSEL and TEFL as an ESL Instructor. As you can probably see, Im a firm believer in continued education practices.

FOLLOW ME: Go to my profile now and tap the heart to stay updated! You’ll receive notifications whenever I add a new IEW course to my listings.

MESSAGE ME: For questions or comments regarding my class offers, curriculum, and more, please message me. I am here to ensure that your child has a great experience on outschool.

REVIEW MY CLASS: Being a newer teacher on outschool, I do not yet have many reviews. You can change that for me. Take a class with me and let me know what you think. Do you like my style, how I am with the students, what I teach? Are there things that you would like to see in our virtual classroom? Let's work together to grow our learners knowledge and build up each other's lives.
