In this course, students will be introduced to several different types of poems and get a chance to practice writing in those styles. Those styles include concrete, acrostic, haiku, limerick, couplet, cinquain, diamante, clerihew, book spine, autobiographical, and free verse. Each week they will view several examples and discuss the characteristics (lines, stanzas, rhymes, rhythm, etc) of the specific poem. After that, learners will start to brainstorm and write one or both types of poems with teacher support and feedback. No prior experience is required for this course.
