Poetry for beginners. Students will learn what a rhyming poem is and how to write one! There will be a lesson and activity involved in this 55-minute class session.

Beginner Level
Students will be taught what poetry is and what different types of poems there are. This class is extremely student based. The students ask questions they want to know and at the end get to write a poem based on what they want. Students are able to become confident with rhyming skills and can develop a passion telling a story of their own. Learners interact by raising their hand to speak, giving thumbs up or down, and holding up a number 1-5 to see how well they are understanding.

Learning Needs
Any one is able to join this class as it is very inclusive. The material is based on their thoughts, ideas, and passions. This can be a benefit for students with ASD to give them that connection.
Pre-Requisites
Students should have a basic knowledge of what rhyming words are, what words rhyme, and the ability to write at least 4 sentences.
Supply List
Students will need to bring a notebook or scratch paper and something with write with for brainstorming and creating their poems.
