I will be apart of the conversation as well 😁 🎶 Lessons will be shared to ensure all students comprehend concepts and themes 🎶 While students will be challenged to think deeply, their perspective will always be encouraged and celebrated. 🎶 I hope that students feel as welcomed to think as they are challenged in their thinking. 🎶 Down-to-earth discussions and I love an occasional tangent so that learning is organic! ⬇️‼️CHECK OUT MY OTHER POETRY COURSES‼️⬇️ 🐦 "Perceiving Poetry" eases learners into poetry concepts https://outschool.com/classes/middle-school-poetry-course-perceiving-poems-hope-is-the-thing-with-feathers-IjryywAj?usid=HjYuHv99&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link 🧔♂️ "Learning Limericks" introduces learners to one of the funnier forms of poetry https://outschool.com/classes/middle-school-poetry-course-learning-limericks-3u9qRwk7?usid=HjYuHv99&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link ☀️ Discerning Sonnets https://outschool.com/classes/middle-school-poetry-class-discerning-sonnets-sonnet-18-by-shakespeare-K7raysZl?usid=HjYuHv99&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_linkOne of the most difficult aspects of poetry for learners to perceive is meter! Poetry is extremely musical in that it is emotional, beautiful, and has a rhythm. But how can words not backed by accompanying instruments do this?
Learning Goals
Students will use the class text (How Happy is the Little Stone by Emily Dickinson) to learn about the stressed, unstressed, and secondary stresses within words and how to identify them. They will also learn about the four metrical feet of poetry (iamb, trochee, dactyl, and anapest) and how to identify them within poems.
