Homework
1-2 hours per week. All assignments are considered essential for reinforcing learning and preparing students for in-class discussions. I believe each assignment contributes to a holistic understanding of poetry. Assessment: Homework will be assessed as a formative measure, offering insights into your child's progress. Constructive feedback will be provided on a rotating basis to ensure each student receives guidance periodically.

A pre-class poetry assessment will be provided before the start of the course.
Grading
Academic Honesty: Original Work Requirement: Maintaining the highest standards of academic honesty, all submitted work must be the sole creation of the student. Plagiarism, in any form, is strictly prohibited and will result in severe consequences. Independent Effort: Students are expected to complete assignments independently. The use of external sources, including ChatGPT or any other assistance, is strictly prohibited unless explicitly allowed for a specific task. Zero Tolerance for Plagiarism: Any instance of plagiarism will result in automatic assignment failure, and repeated offenses may lead to further disciplinary actions. The goal is to foster a learning environment where each student's work reflects their unique understanding and effort. Clear Communication: It is imperative for students to seek clarification from the instructor rather than resorting to external sources for completing assignments. Open communication about academic honesty expectations ensures a fair and transparent learning environment.

Topic and Theme in Poetry: Uncover the significance of themes and topics in poetry, laying the groundwork for meaningful expression.
Week 2: May 9-14, 2024

Analyzing Imagery in Poetry: Dive into the evocative world of imagery, understanding how poets use vivid language to create mental pictures and enhance their work.
Week 3: May 16-21, 2024

Similes and Metaphors in Poetry: Explore the power of figurative language, delving into the nuanced use of similes and metaphors to convey complex emotions and ideas.
Week 4: May 23-30, 2024

Personification in Poetry: Examine the poetic device of personification, breathing life into inanimate objects and abstract concepts to add depth to poetic expression.
