Poe's Phobias: Phobias Portrayed in Poe's Most Well Known Stories
This class is modeled after a bookclub. We will review Edgar Allan Poe's biography, read selections, and discuss how his personal experiences are reflected in them. We will also look at different phobias portrayed in the stories.

In this live class, the learning materials will be delivered on Nearpod--biography, quizzes, text PDFs, etc. This enrichment class will span over 3 days. Lesson 1 (Day 1) the learners will be introduced to Edgar Allan Poe and his most famous tale "The Raven." We will discuss the poem's structure and literary devices, tone and mood, and related phobias. Lesson 2 (Day 2) we will continue our journey with "The Tell-Tale Heart" and discuss unreliable narrator and the phobia related to the story. Lesson 3 (Day 3) our last day, we will read "The Masque of the Red Death" and discuss the biographical nature of the tale, make text connections, and discuss the related phobia.
