In this small (1-3 student) Writing and Drawing Game, Confidence and Kindness Artist Ms. Leslie, a 5-Star ACE Educator, 2023/2024 Outschool Outstanding Educator, and nominated for Best in Review in 2023, will begin with a guessing game. She will give players clues. Students write and draw their answers. After three rounds, students use their answers to write/illustrate or tell a short story. Students will be encouraged to compliment one another and will be met with positive feedback. My class size is deliberately small (1-3 students) in order to give students maximum teacher interaction and attention. Creative Writing encouraged. One of the best things about choosing to teach small classes (1-3 kids) is that I get to facilitate friendships from all over the world. I am an expert at inclusion and love bringing kids together. Kindness to self and one another is my number one goal in every class I teach. This is a one-time class that can be taken multiple times. The clues and players change every day, but the process stays the same, creating an immediate familiarity/confidence for returning players. The record for several students is over 40 times! Come once, or come often. We will practice using our imaginations, writing, illustrating, storytelling, presenting, listening, becoming aware of time and tasks, and most of all we will practice confidence and kindness. Social-Emotional Learning. Please scroll down to read parent reviews of my teaching style and to see student answer sheets. "Ms. Leslie is very KIND." That word, kindness, is what you will read most often in my reviews. Your student will immediately feel welcomed. Putting students at ease quickly is one of my specialties. *ESL and ELL students can Practice Speaking English Confidently in this fun and simple game. Note: *ESL and ELL students should be able to write simple sentences without assistance and be able to read their sentences to the class. I am sorry, but Ms. Leslie only speaks English. Thank you for being Supeheros of language!! Class is appropriate for CEFR: B1,B2,C1,C2* Important note: Please take this class inside, with a proper place to write and draw. Students will show their work to the camera, so a car or other learning environment is not ideal. I want this to be a kind, safe and generous place to share art and stories. Please share this with your learner: I do not allow violence of any type in the writing or the artwork or bathroom type of humor. I encourage students to be positive and to tell uplifting stories. I am a kindness and confidence mentor for children. I want your student to leave my class feeling GREAT about themselves, others and what they accomplished. Thank you for your support. IMPORTANT: I won't be able to let you in from the waiting room after the 5 minute mark and won't be able to respond to emails after class begins. If at the beginning of class you are having technical difficulty, at the 5 minute mark I will ask you to end meeting and I will transfer you to another time soon after class ends, immediately after if possible. *What is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)? Per Outschool: CEFR is an international standard for describing language ability It uses a six-point scale, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language Language level is measured across three domains: Understanding (Reading & Listening), Speaking (Spoken Interaction & Spoken Production), and Writing, This class: (CEFR: B1,B2,C1,C2*) Lastly: For those students who have taken this class multiple times, I may change the clues over time to reflect confidence, self esteem or growth mindset oriented answers. For example: What does it mean to be a kind person? Write and draw answers. Because of the small size and participatory nature of this class, I ask that cameras stay on for the duration of the class. Thank you!
Learning Goals

Supply List
3 pieces of 8.5x11 inch white paper black marker/sharpie* pencil/eraser (If a student prefers to use a sketchbook, they need a black marker and pencil.) *Students are encouraged to use a black or dark marker. It is easier for everyone to see their work when presented to the camera if a black marker is used. We don't color our illustrations in this class, but students are encouraged to color after class. I choose to use the time we would be coloring to give students more clues.
