Plant the Seed to Build Your Reading Comprehension.

Students will be utilizing a text about annuals and perennials to learn strategies to increase their comprehension of textbooks and other non-fiction texts. Students will learn how to set a purpose, develop a mindmap, do a brief summary and capture their reactions to the reading.  

There are examples and models provided with a gradual release where students will be asked to practice the skill.  The reading is at a low-level to engage more students in the learning process.  The technique can be utilized into the college level.  Students will have opportunities to ask clarifying questions. 

A slide show has been created to engage students in the material.  There are opportunities to share learning and ask questions.  

Students do not need much experience to engage with the material.  Teacher will read aloud reading pieces and students should be able to engage with the material.
