Class Experience

Dear Mathematician!

In this course, we re-create the origins of geometry by making pizza. We use bread, hamburger buns, pizza sauce, and cheese. With these ingredients, we can see, feel, and taste the concepts of pi (π), Pythagorean theorem, length-width height, measurements, areas, volumes, cylinders and more. 

One of the best things about learning geometry this way is that it makes it really easy to remember. In fact, it is almost impossible to forget!

Another thing I like about it is...

1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Parental guidance is required for the use of a butter knife and cutting board. Pizza sauce should be from a bag or parents should open and secure any cans that may have sharp edges. Any optional heating with a stove, oven or microwave should be done by an adult, but heating is NOT required for the course.
