Class Experience

In this one-time class we will learn all about the history and story of the piñata! Piñatas have a history rooted in Latin America, and specifically Mexico. Through an interactive presentation, discussion, pictures, and some historical facts, learners will gain knowledge through conversation, will build language, and have fun learning in a collaborative way! All my classes include unique art-themed coloring sheet made just for my Out School classes! As an ethnic studies college professor, I like to share my cultural traditions with all my students! Growing up, colorful piñatas were always a part of my family's celebrations. We even sang a song while others took a turn trying to break the piñata! I hope to see you in our fun piñata class!

Please note, we will not be making a piñata in this informative class. However, Dr. Reina will provide an informational worksheet detailing the materials and instructions on how to make your own piñata at home!

Sometimes my classes can go over by a few mins. Learners are welcome to leave as soon as the time is over if they need to go :)

No prior knowledge is needed to participate in this cultural series! Please see my other one-time classes that are a part of the cultural series such as Lucha Libre, Loteria, Art, Danza Azteca, Sugar Skulls, and much more!
